Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Adstyr ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our platform. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and understand how you interact with the site. We also use localStorage, a similar technology that stores data locally in your browser.
2. Types of Cookies We Use
2.1 Necessary Cookies (Always Active)
These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be disabled. They enable core functionality such as authentication and security.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| auth_token | Session authentication - keeps you logged in | 7 days |
| NEXT_LOCALE | Stores your preferred language | 1 year |
| cookie_consent | Stores your cookie preferences | 1 year |
| csrf_token | Security token to prevent cross-site attacks | Session |
| __cf_bm | Set by Cloudflare, our content delivery and security provider, to tell people from bots. Contains no personal profile. | 30 minutes |
| adstyr_mkt | Remembers your answer to the Marketing question in our cookie banner, so our server can respect it when you sign up or log in. Holds only that answer. | Until your cookie choice expires (12 months) |
2.2 Analytics Cookies (Optional)
These tools help us understand how visitors use the platform, such as page views and feature usage. They load only after you accept analytics cookies: our own page-view log, PostHog, and Google Tag Manager, which can set Google Analytics cookies such as _ga (see section 3).
| Data Collected | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Page views | Understand which pages are most useful | 90 days |
| Feature usage | Improve features based on actual usage patterns | 90 days |
| Session ID | Group page views within a single visit | Session |
2.3 Marketing Preferences (Optional)
The "Marketing" category in our consent banner controls two things: whether we send you promotional emails, and whether, when you sign up or come back, we tell Meta about it through Meta's Conversions API (a hashed email, name and country, plus your IP address and browser details) so we can measure our own ads. Promotional emails are only ever sent if you accept. The Meta measurement also needs your acceptance if you are in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland; everywhere else it is on by default, and turning Marketing off in the cookie banner stops it. We do not use browser marketing pixels, retargeting cookies or other advertising trackers.
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Email preferences | Remember your marketing email opt-in/out status | Until changed |
3. Third-Party Cookies
We use the following third-party services that may set their own cookies:
- Sentry: Error monitoring to detect and fix bugs. May collect browser and device information when errors occur.
- Stripe: Payment processing. Sets cookies during checkout for fraud prevention.
- PostHog (Analytics): Product analytics. Stores a pseudonymous distinct_id in localStorage. Loaded only after analytics consent. Hosted in the EU (eu.posthog.com).
- Google Tag Manager (Analytics): Tag management container that loads other consented tags. Sets _ga and related cookies depending on what is loaded inside it. Loaded only after analytics consent.
4. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time:
- Cookie Banner: Use the "Cookie Preferences" link in the site footer, or the Privacy tab in Settings when you are signed in, to change your choices at any time
- Browser Settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies in settings
- Account Settings: Manage email marketing preferences in your account settings
Note: Blocking necessary cookies will prevent you from using our platform. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect functionality.
5. Do Not Track
Our platform respects your cookie consent preferences. If you decline analytics cookies, we will not track your activity. We also honour the browser "Do Not Track" signal: when it is enabled, analytics are suppressed even if you have accepted analytics cookies.
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date and, if required by law, request your consent again.
